It can be an uncomfortable feeling and can manifest in different ways, such as an inability to on a task or a feeling of being “stuck” in one’s life.


Resistance can also be a sign that we are in need of healing or transformation. It can act as a warning sign that something needs to be addressed and can be used to help us identify areas in our lives that need our attention.


The Benefits of Leaning into Resistance


Leaning into resistance can help us to understand the causes of our discomfort and to make changes that will help us move forward. It can also help us to become more aware of our patterns and behaviors, and to make better decisions for ourselves. By understanding the signal that our resistance is communicating, we can begin to make changes that will lead us to greater healing and transformation.

This can help us to recognize any resistance in order to make changes that will help us to move forward.


Journaling can also be a powerful tool for this practice. It can give us an outlet to explore our thoughts and feelings and to express our fears and frustrations. Writing down our thoughts can also help us to gain clarity and to make decisions that will lead us to greater healing and transformation.   1. What is something in my life that I have been avoiding or putting off? Why am I resisting it?

  2. What is one thing I am currently afraid of? What am I afraid will happen if I confront this fear?

  3. What patterns or behaviors have I noticed in myself that could be related to resistance?

  4. What would be the worst-case scenario if I faced my resistance head-on? How likely is this scenario to occur?

  5. What are the benefits of facing my resistance? What positive changes could come from leaning into it?

  6. In what ways have I grown or transformed in the past when I have faced my resistance?

  7. What limiting beliefs or negative self-talk am I telling myself about my ability to overcome my resistance?

  8. What resources or support do I need to help me face my resistance and move forward?

  9. What small steps can I take today to confront my resistance and begin to make progress?

  10. What kind and encouraging words can I offer myself as I work through my resistance? What self-compassionate practices can I incorporate into my life to support myself through this process?


Resistance can be uncomfortable and overwhelming, but it can also be a transformational tool for understanding ourselves and our unique signals. Leaning into our internal resistance can help us to understand the signal it is communicating and to make changes that will lead us to greater healing and inner peace.
