As we approach the end of the first week of the New Year, it seems the perfect opportunity to reflect in order to establish the direction you wish to take in the coming 12 months.

So, what is 'Self Reflection'?
Self reflection is a powerful tool that can help us better understand ourselves and make positive changes in our lives. It involves taking a step back and looking at our thoughts, behaviours and actions with a critical eye.
It can be a difficult and uncomfortable process, but it is ultimately a crucial part of your personal growth and development. There are many different ways to practice, it is important to find a method that works best for you.
Here are a few ideas to get you started:
Journaling:
Writing down our thoughts and feelings can be a great way to process and reflect on experiences. It can also help us identify patterns in our behaviour and thoughts that we may not have been aware of before.
Check out my blog post on journaling for a deeper understanding of its benefits on your well-being.
If you're struggling to get started, here are a few prompts that may help you put pen to paper:
What were the highlights of your year? What made them stand out to you?
What were the challenges you faced this year? How did you handle them? What did you learn from the experience?
How did you show up for yourself and others this year? What actions did you take to prioritize your own needs and well-being?
What are you most grateful for this year? How can you cultivate more gratitude in your life going forward?
What are your biggest goals for the future? What steps can you take to work towards achieving them in the coming year?
What is one thing you would like to let go of from this year (e.g. a negative belief about yourself, a grudge towards someone)? How can you take steps to release it and move forward?
What is one thing you would like to bring more of into your life going forward (e.g. self-care, connection with others)? How can you make that a priority in your daily routine?
Meditation:
Meditation practice involves focusing your attention on a specific object, thought, or activity to calm the mind.
It can be an effective way to clear our mental space and reflect on your experiences and emotions.
I would recommend looking into Michael Sealey, Mooji, Jason Stephenson and Master Co's channels.
Talking to a therapist or coach:
A therapist or coach can provide a safe and supportive space to explore your thoughts and feelings and help you understand them better. They can also help you identify areas in your life that may need improvement and provide guidance on how to make those changes in a healthy way.
Reflecting on past experiences:
Looking back on past experiences can provide valuable insights into our current behaviours and patterns. Consider thinking about what you learned from past challenges and how you can apply those lessons to your present situation.
Understanding our cycles will provide the space and clarity to change old habits by replacing them with new ones that align with our values.
This practice has proven useful for highlighting where thoughts and actions require work and deeper reflection.
Asking for feedback:
Seeking feedback from trusted friends or colleagues can provide a valuable perspective on how others see us and can help us identify areas for improvement.
Self evaluating is a continuous process and should be an ongoing part of our lives.
It's important to take care of yourself.
This work is a vulnerable and emotional process and it's important to be gentle with yourself by practicing self-compassion. Remember to listen to your body and your emotions and take breaks as needed.
You can also consider seeking support from friends, family, or a therapist if you feel you need it. Ultimately, the most important thing for you to take away from this is that there are benefits to being kind to yourself and allowing yourself the space and care you need to grow and learn.
